Childline responded to over 12 hundred calls, texts and messages from children on Christmas Day.
The ISPCC's listening service says almost three quarters of contacts were from boys and young males.
Childline says that the calls received yesterday highlight that while for most children Christmas is a time to have fun and spend time with family, for many others it can be a difficult time.
