Murder Investigation Launched Into Discovery Of Body Of Man In His 20s

Gardai have launched a murder investigation after the body of a man was found in the north inner city.

The man in his 20s died violently.

Gardai have confirmed this evening that they have commenced a murder investigation after the body of a man was found in Kevin Barry House yesterday evening.

The man in his 20s suffered serious head injuries and his body had been laying on the ground in the flat for over five days.

An incident room has been set up and Gardai at the Bridewell have issued an appeal for witnesses to contact them.

A garda spokesperson says: "Gardaí in the Bridewell have commenced a murder investigation into the discovery of a body of a male in his 20s at a flat in Kevin Barry House, Coleraine Street, Dublin 7, at approximately 6:20pm on Monday, 12th September, 2022.

"The scene remains preserved and a technical examination is ongoing by the Garda Technical Bureau.

"The body of the male was removed to the City Morgue, Whitehall, and a post mortem is being conducted this afternoon by State Pathologist Dr Margot Bolster.

"Investigating Gardaí are appealing for anyone with any information in relation to this matter to contact Bridewell Garda Station on 01 6668200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station."
