A rep for the show's creative team also spoke to Playbill, stating that “they are all really excited and will have a formal announcement with additional information very soon.”

Earlier this year, Fey confirmed that Mean Girls the Musical was finally in development.

Speaking at a press conference, Tina revealed herself and her husband Jeff Richmond were working on the script, alongside 'Legally Blonde' lyricist, Nell Benjamin.

'Mean Girls', starring Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Lizzy Caplan, Lacey Chabert, Amanda Seyfried and Fey is one of the most successful high-school movies of all time.
