It's not as if Whatsapp was going to break the bank, but nobody enjoys paying for their apps.

Well Whatsapp is now joining the endless list of free apps.

Free for the first year and 99 cent every year after, Whatsapp bosses have decided to scrap the charge.

But is there a catch?

Founder Jan Koum admitted that it was just not working, because not everyone has access to credit or debit cards.

It means that anyone with data will be able to use the app for FREE!

Wait. Are we going to be bombarded with advertisements, while trying to reply to our group chat?

Not really.....the company have said:

"The answer is no. Starting this year, we will test tools that allow you to use WhatsApp to communicate with businesses and organizations that you want to hear from. That could mean communicating with your bank about whether a recent transaction was fraudulent, or with an airline about a delayed flight. We all get these messages elsewhere today through text messages and phone calls so we want to test new tools to make this easier to do on WhatsApp, while still giving you an experience without third-party ads and spam."
