Secret Santa is always fun, whether it's from someone in work or in your group of friends. It's always nice to exchange gifts.
Imagine doing it with the rest of the world? Well, now you can! There's been a call out on the popular website Reddit for people to take part. Last year, over 200k from over 180 countries took part in the holiday tradition and this year they hope just as many will sign up.
The Reddit Secret Santa started back in 2009, with only 4,507 people taking part, 12 of which were from Ireland. It grew to 17,000 participants in total in 2010 and each year it continues to grow. In 2014, it had 212,465 people signed up, with 2,920 from Ireland.
If you want to take part you have to sign up through a special website by the 23rd of November. After that date, a computer program will get you matched up with someone in the world. You will get sent information about your match and you have until December 11th to send their gift to them. They recommend only spending around $20 on the gift but they say 'in the end, it's the thought that counts, this is a recommendation, not a rule'.
In the sign up process you give notes to your Santa. Some of the information you can provide them with is your favourite game, colour, show or team and whether you have any allergies. You can also choose if you want to be matched with someone outside of your country.
So far this year they have over 42,000 people signed up from 120 countries.
