Twitter is reportedly going to stop counting photographs and links as part of its 140-character limit. A photo currently takes up about 24 characters, while a link takes up 23.

Reports suggest the social media site could bring in the change within the next two weeks. However, a spokesperson for Twitter wouldn't comment on the 'speculation'.

The character limit was originally chosen because it was the same length as a standard mobile phone text message.
