A level of petty we aspire to be.
Jonathon Lam, who has been working at his Dad's Chinese takeaway for most of his life, is after having a serious falling out with him. And in his retaliation, he means business.
Lam's Chinese has been a Ballyfermot institution for 32 years, run by the Lam family.
Jonathon Lam had been working for his father's Chinese takeaway, but things went sour when he asked for a pay rise and his dad refused. The dispute has led to Jonathan opening a rival takeaway right next door to his Dad's.
Not only is it right next to his Dad's he's after calling it 'New Lam's'
While we find the story a bit gas, it is sad to see family's fighting and we hope they work things out!
Speaking to The Irish Sun, Jonathon said: “It is heavy, it is hard. I still love my da, it is not revenge. What do you want me to do? I’m from this town. It is the straw that broke the camel’s back. It is not easy for me. If I don’t do this, I’ll never forgive myself. I’m doing this for myself and my future.”
Jonathon said that he had to make this decision to support his own family.
"I’m not in the business of hurting him. The reality is I’m doing what’s best for me. This is the only option left for me.
Jonathon's rival Chinese takeaway 'New Lam's' is located at 284 Ballyfermot road and is set to open in a week. Jonathon says he is "confident it will work out."
Speaking about the feud, Jonathon's father Ken said: “I let him go. I think he lost face because he no longer works for me. It’s like revenge. To me, I think it’s wrong. Okay, you want to open a business against me. It doesn’t really matter. I’m good."
When asked whether he was worried about being outsold by Jonathon's rival Chinese, Ken said: "I’m on the edge of retirement. So I don’t worry about it"
We're sure they'll work things out and join forces one again ❤
