Know your rights when shopping online.

  • Consumers have specific rights when shopping online from websites based in the EU which they are often not aware of.
  • When you buy online from a seller based within the EU you have strong consumer rights when it comes to access to full terms and conditions, changing your mind, returns, and delivery.
  • When you buy online from outside the EU, these consumer laws do not apply so you do not have the same protection.
  • Check out the information on consumerhelp.ie.
  • When you buy online you are given a cooling-off period of at least 14 days starting from the date you receive your order. Before the end of the 14 days, you can cancel the order and return the item and get a refund. During this cooling-off period you can return the item for any reason. But if you cancel the order because you change your mind, you may have to pay for the cost of returning it.
