Why do we love cheese so much?

It doesn't have the most desirable smell and some cheeses even have mould on them!

But despite this we still love this yellow piece of heaven on our toast, pizza and pretty much anything else!

New studies from the US National Library of Medicine have found that 'Casein' a protein found in all milk products releases opiates called casomorphins when it is digested.

Opioids are well known for giving us that relaxed, peaceful feeling we all crave.

Researchers took 500 students to complete the Yale Food Addiction Scale and the results showed cheese to be one of the highest ranking food addictions.

So when you try to kick start your diet and cut out this dairy product you may suffer withdrawal feelings.

However don't be too alarmed, dairy products such as cheese still do have some positive effects on our health.

But always remember everything in moderation!
