Heatwave To Continue For At Least Another Week

It looks like the good weather is here for the foreseeable future. According to Met Eireann, it will be mostly dry, warm and sunny this week and early next week. 

A status yellow high temperature warning is in place for Leinster, Munster, Cavan, Monaghan, Galway, Leitrim and Roscommon until 9 o'clock tonight with temperatures set to reach 27 degrees or higher in some areas. 

In Dublin today, it'll be warm and sunny with temperatures ranging between 22 and 25 degrees. There'll be similar conditions tomorrow in the capital with highs of 21 to 24 degrees.

Wednesday

Warm, sunny and dry. There is a slight risk of one of two showers. Highest temperatures of 22 to 28 degrees. It will be warmest in Leinster. 

Thursday

Thursday will be a cloudy and cooler day with some sunny spells. It will be mainly dry but there could be some patchy drizzle in the west and north. There is a risk of some showers in Munster and south Leinster in the afternoon. Temperatures will range from 16-25 degrees.  

Friday

Dry with sunny spells. Highest temperatures of 18 to 24 degrees, coolest along coasts and warmest in the midlands.

Saturday

Warm and mainly dry with sunny spells. There's a chance of one or two isolated showers. Highest temperatures of 20 to 26 degrees. t will be coolest along the west coast and warmest in the east. 

Sunday

Warm and mainly dry with highest temperatures of 20 to 25 degrees. 

Early next week

Warm, dry and mostly sunny.

Meanwhile, a yellow warning for near-drought conditions is also in place until midnight on Friday. 

Met Eireann says: "With little or no rain forecast for most areas over the coming week, drought or near-drought conditions are expected to develop more widely across Ireland."
