Snapchat has added four new features - including group chats, Shazam integration, a scissors and a paintbrush.

The group chat will allow up to 16 people to chat together. The messages sent to the group are available for just 24 hours and then they disappear forever. Stickers, bitmojis, voice notes etc are also available in group chat.

Meanwhile, users can simply hold down on the app's camera to Shazam a song.

A rep for Snap In. explained:

"When you Shazam a song, a pop-up box prompts you to learn more about the song. From there, you can listen to a preview clip, see lyrics, watch the Vevo video, and see recommended songs. The same options are available for songs you've Shazamed that are saved in settings."

The scissors feature is said to let users cut out part of a message and turn it into a sticker. We haven't been given much detail on the paintbrush tool but both features will appear in the upper left-hand corner of the preview screen alongside the text, sticker and drawing tools.

According to Snapchat, all of the features will be rolled out to Apple iOS and Android devices soon.

It appears the social platform is continuing take on increasing competition from the likes of Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Periscope and WhatsApp.
