Facebook says it removed two and a half million pieces of hate speech from its site in the first three months of this year.

For the first time ever, the social media giant is making its internal Community Standards Enforcement Report public.

It shows that, between January and March, Facebook took down 837 million pieces of spam, 21 million porn images and disabled 583 million fake accounts.

The company says it's working on improving technology that catches graphic violence, but did manage to apply warning labels to about three and a half million pieces of violent content.
