Political events such as Donald Trump's election in the US and Brexit also feature in the top five.
Serious news events including Hurricane Matthew, the Nice terror attacks, Pat Hickey's arrest at the Rio Olympics and the Dublin Bus Strike also feature as does the death of sporting legend Anthony Foley.
