A brand new play about climate change is coming to Dublin later this month.

Sunday's Child duo Eva O'Connor and Hildegard Ryan will perform Afloat in Smock Alley from September 17th-22nd as part of the Dublin Fringe Festival.

The climate apocalypse has hit. Dublin is completely underwater. Best friends Bláthnaid and Debs are the sole survivors, living on the top floor of Liberty Hall.

With only seagulls for company, they spend their days sheltering from the storms and reminiscing over the last days of Dublin. Debs looks to the future, but Bláthnaid is tormented by guilt. Why were they blind to the wave that was coming? And can they salvage a future from the wreckage?

Afloat explores loss, sisterhood, and climate anxiety, diving into some big questions: Should we all be recycling more? Is Dublin city doomed? How do we react when disaster hits? And how much time do we have left?

Check out the dates and times of the play below:

  • 17th-21st Sept, 6.30 pm
  • Matinees: 21st-22nd Sept. 1.30pm
