What a night!

On Wednesday 27th of March at The Dean Townhouse, the best people and businesses in Dublin stepped out for a night of glamour, fun and celebrating the community.

After weeks of nominating and voting, we found 3 finalists in 12 categories representing the very best of Dublin - from our favourite takeaways to the best shopping centres.

This year's awards saw the return of Best Of Dublin to 98FM for the first time in 5 years, and with a whopping 60,000 votes cast in total from our listeners, it was already set up to be our biggest one yet.

Queen of drag, Dame Stuffy took to the stage last night to entertain the packed audience of award hopefuls before 98FM's Big Breakfast presenters Rebecca and Brendan announced the winners in categories including Best Dublin Breakfast, Best Dublin Coffee and Best Dublin Takeaway.

The energetic and hugely popular Riff Shop  had everyone on their feet during the interval with an amazing dance anthems set before 98FM presenters Brian Dowling and Suzanne Kane continued the night, crowning award winners including comedian Darren Conway as Best Dublin Celebrity and Dublin Zoo for Best Family Experience.

Perhaps the standout award of the night was for ‘Best Dublin Moment’ which saw the infamous ‘hole in Portmarnock’ take home the top prize. Late last year, a mysterious hole on Portmarnock beach was mistaken for a meteorite crater and saw national media cover the story in great detail before realising it was in fact, just a hole dug by three local men!

One new category in this year’s awards was ‘Best Mate’, which recognised that friend who makes life more fun. The judges were won over by Brian Anderson who nominated his best mate, and wife, Elizabeth. Elizabeth, who is a healthcare assistant, was described by Brian has being his best friend since they met as teenagers. Brian says they’ve “always had each other” and now it was time to give Elizabeth the credit she deserves for her support as a wife, mother of 3, and grandmother of 2.
