The Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon is taking place this Sunday the 4th of June and lucky for us - it looks like it's going to be a scorcher!

But as we all know, running in the heat can be dangerous if you don't prepare and look after yourself properly.

So here are some handy warm weather tips if you're taking part in the event this weekend.

  • Drinks lots of water from 48 hours prior to the race
  • Apply suncream (factor 50, preferably waterproof) and apply frequently
  • Wear a hat
  • Wear long sleeves
  • Stay in the shade as much as possible pre-race
  • During the race, be prepared to reduce your pace if necessary and remember the conditions you trained in were probably cooler and more comfortable.

In addition, the team at the Vhi Women's Mini Marathon will be providing extra water at all their water stations at the Start and Finish Areas, and at all of their water stations along the course 💦

There will be water stations along the course at the 3km mark, the 6km Mark, and the 8km mark.

They will also have pagodas positioned at the two main water stations on the course, in case some of the women taking part would like to take a rest of have some shade along the way.

These pagodas will also be manned by medics should you need them.

Have a great time if you're heading along on Sunday and stay safe! ☀
