To celebrate the mega-sale at Cloghran Motor Centre this weekend, they've given some helpful tips for keeping your car healthy.

Petrol – always check your petrol levels before making a long journey. Will you make it to your destination with the amount of fuel you have? If you are unsure, make a note of a petrol station along the way. The last thing you want is to have to walk 1 or 2 miles with a jerry can on your back.

Oil – Always keep a litre of oil in your boot and check your oil levels regularly with your dipstick. Low oil levels can cause horrendous damage to your engine so it’s best to keep it topped up to the maximum mark on the dipstick.

Water – The exact same goes for the water coolant in your car. Do a regular check on coolant levels in your tank. The correct Water Coolant level will be marked clearly on your tank.

Electrics – You should test your electrics before making any long journeys. Give your lights a quick flash and test your windows. The last thing you want to be doing is trying to change a light bulb in the dark and cold when you could have easily changed it in your garage before making the journey.

Rubber – I know this is rarely done but checking your tread depth could save you from a crash. Worn tyres have less gripping power and could be vital if you ever found yourself in a bad situation. Always look for professional advice if you feel there is something wrong with your tyres.
