Northside Dublin

Dublin's Northside is full of charm and is home to a lot of the city's iconic attractions.

From shopping to galleries, an urban farm and great food, there's lots to explore North of the river.

We've teamed up with VisitDublin.com to give you some great ideas for your next day out in Dublin. Check them out below.

These bus tours are something we're used to seeing abroad, however, have you ever thought of doing one in your own city?

Hop on, hop off bus tours are a brilliant way to see Dublin at your own pace and not have to worry about how you're going to get there.

Big Bus Tours and City Sightseeing both offer in depth tours of the city, stopping at most of the main attractions.

The Hugh Lane Gallery

The Hugh Lane Gallery opened in 1908 and is thought to be one of the first modern art galleries in the world.

The huge collection of modern and contemporary art features some of Ireland and the world's best artists, including Manet, Monet, Renoir and Degas.

You can also visit a display of the fully preserved studio of Francis Bacon, including unfinished pieces of his art.

14 Henrietta Street

If you want to check out some of Dublin's best Georgian architecture, Henrietta Street has the most intact collection of house from this time.

Number 14 Henrietta Street is home to a museum which tells the story of 300 years of city life.

On your guided tour you'll learn how these houses built for the rich became tenement dwellings.

GPO Museum

The GPO was central to the 1916 rising and on this immersive tour you'll learn all about this important time in Irish history.

One of Dublin's most historic buildings, here you'll see all sides of the conflict through a gripping film.

The engaging exhibition also includes making newspaper reports, learning Morse code and examining the original copy of the Proclamation.

Shopping Henry Street

Henry Street is one of the Northside's two main shopping streets and is home to 200 shops.

Ireland's oldest shopping centre, The Ilac, and Ireland's oldest department store Arnotts can both be found here.

Arnotts is also the largest department store in Ireland, boasting 300,000 square feet of space which features homeware, fashion, electricals and so much more.

Bustling Moore Street is nearby and you'll be able to check out some of Dublin's buskers too.

Croke Park and GAA Museum

Croke Park is one of the most impressive stadiums in Europe, being the third largest with it's 82,500 capacity.

The site of some of Ireland's biggest sporting moments, so the museum and stadium tour is a must for any sports fan.

Check out the dressing rooms, media centre and learn why Croke Park's grass is greener than anywhere else.

Eating Out On Capel Street

Capel Street has been building a reputation in the foodie scene over the last number of years.

Here you'll find a huge array of international cuisine, including Korean, Italian, Vietnamese and Japanese.

Aobaba has some of the best Banh Mi in Dublin, while Krewe offers up New Orleans inspired dishes, combining Southern soul and Irish craic.

St. Anne's Park And Red Stables

St. Anne's Park is the perfect spot for lunch and a nice walk.

The Red Stables are home to Olive's Room café, which specialises in local whole foods and fresh baked treats. Plus, on Saturdays the spot comes alive with a food market.

After, take a stroll through dense woodlands, rose gardens and the urban farm, and pay a visit to the pigs, chickens and donkeys.

National Botanic Gardens

Located just a stone's throw away from the city centre in Glasnevin, the National Botanic Gardens are a green haven.

With a collection of over 15,000 plant species to explore, you can really get lost in nature here.

Guided tours are also available, where you can see the rose garden, alpine yard, rock garden and learn about the international significance of the gardens.

Dublin's Northside is full of charm. From history to green spaces, amazing food to iconic sporting grounds, a wander around the North city is a must-do this year.
