Fabinho left out of Brazil's Copa America squad

A number of high profile players have been left out of Brazil's squad for next month's Copa America. Perhaps chief among them is Fabinho who, despite playing a key role in Liverpool's season, does not make Tite's final 23.

The 25-year old only made a 3-minute cameo in Brazil's recent friendly with the Czech Republic, having sat on the bench for each of their three previous outings.

Another Champions League hero missing out is Lucas Moura. His hat-trick for Tottenham in their Champions League win over Ajax hasn't been enough to force himself back into the Selecao squad. Moura's last outing for Brazil came in October of last year in their 2-0 friendly win over Saudi Arabia.

Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho returns having last played in their World Cup quarter final loss to Belgium. He's one of three City players  in the squad, along with Ederson and Gabriel Jesus.

Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino gets the nod, as does his Merseyside rival Richarlison. Meanwhile, Gremio winger Everton gets the nod ahead of Real Madrid's teenage superstar Vinicius Jr.

Brazil host this year's edition of the Copa America, and are in Group A along with Bolivia, Venezuela and Peru. Speaking recently, Tite stressed the importance of a victory on home soil, "We must play very well, and we must win, we must be champions. At a minimum, we must reach the final. And, before that, have a good performance. I say it because we culturally live in a country that lives football."

The tournament gets underway on June 14th.
