Tottenham Hotspur's England international Eric Dier has committed his future to the North London club, signing a new deal until 2024.

Dier only had one year left on his current deal and previously attracted interest from Manchester United, but he's agreed to remain with the Lilywhites.

The 26-year-old joined Tottenham from Sporting CP back in 2014, scoring on his Premier League debut against West Ham United during the 2014/5 season.

He has made 239 appearances for Spurs, scoring 11 times, and has also lined out for England on 40 occasions, memorably scoring the winning penalty against Colombia in the last 16 of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Upon the Premier League's resumption after the coronavirus lockdown, Dier established himself in the centre of the Tottenham defence alongside Davinson Sanchez.

He was then given a four-match ban for confronting a supporter in the FA Cup defeat to Norwich City.

With veteran Jan Vertonghen to leave Tottenham, Dier is now seen as a long term option.

He has recovered from appendicitis that saw him lose his form and place in the team last year.

Having grown up in Portugal, the player is also believed to have a decent relationship with Mourinho.
