St Patrick's Day weekend is upon us from Thursday the 17th.

There has been some criticism around the decision to run fewer trams and buses in Dublin on St Patrick's Day.

Luas and Dublin Bus services will operate from a Sunday timetable on the 17th and 18th.

That'll mean there will be little to no public transport services to avail of after midnight.

Most Luas services run their last tram around half 11 at night, with the same for most Dublin Bus services.

Dublin Rathdown TD Neale Richmond has spoken out against the move.

He says it's not too late for Dublin Bus and the Luas to rethink and revisit the decision.

With many tourists expected to enter the city, he also thinks it'll harm their experience.

"I think it'll be really worrying that so many people may even be visiting Dublin for the first time,

"And they find that we have cut our public transport needs on two of the busiest days of the year."

"I think it'll leave a really bad impression of our city."

Richmond also cited safety concerns as hundreds, if not thousands, end up walking home at night.
