Dublin Fire Brigade Receive Over 600 Calls On Halloween

Dublin Fire Brigade dealt with 629 call outs over Halloween.

244 of the calls were to handle fires, mainly bonfires. 385 were emergency medical call outs.

Two children had hand injuries associated with fireworks.

Firefighters say they've had less call outs since local authorities started organising events for Halloween and since they started clamping down on people stockpiling for bonfires.

But Assistant Chief Fire Officer Greg O’Dwyer says they were still pretty busy.

''Between the hours of 4.30 when it got dark and until 7pm we had over 100 calls. A lot of bonfires but they were mostly small so we just monitor those. We had to exingusih the bigger ones and the ones close to telephone poles.''
