Dublin To Get Third 24-Hour Bus Route

Dublin is set to get its third 24-hour bus route in time for Christmas.

The 39a from Blanchardstown to UCD will run around the clock starting on Sunday December 13th.

Dublin Bus hasn't announced the change to the public yet -- but its chief executive Ray Coyne gave the details to politicians in west Dublin yesterday.

The 39a is one of Dublin's busiest and most profitable routes, and has long been tipped as the next to go to 24/7 operation after the 15 and the 41.

There'll be a bus every half-hour between half eleven and 5am -- while the old weekend nitelink route will be scrapped,

Mr Coyne said the plan would see 80 more bus drivers and mechanics employed at Dublin Bus.

The new timetable is due out today.
