Prostitution, drug dealing, fraud, theft and cowboy tradesmen are just some of the illegal acts on the Criminal Assets Bureau's radar.

The inter-agency body has published it's strategic report, which outlines it's aims, under the "Crime Shouldn't Pay" motto.

It's the first time that the group has made planning documents public.

However all members of the inter-agency body will remain anonymous, due to the dangerous nature of their work.

Currently, over 470 people from three arms of the State are working as Criminal Profilers.

So that's including Gardaí, the Revenue Commissioners and the Department of Employment Affairs/Social Protection.

Justice Minister Helen McEntee

"CAB's mission is to ensure that crime does not pay, and it does this in a most meaningful way, by going after the assets of persons involved in, or suspected to be involved in, illegal activity."

"Under legislation introduced in 2016, the threshold for invoking the Proceeds of Crime Act reduced from €13,000 to €5,000, significantly extending CAB's reach."

She added that CAB are targeting mid-level criminals as well as gang lords, to intervene early and slow progress.

Pedigree Dogs Are A Source Of Profit For Gangs

Fine Gael's Neale Richmond says criminals will even look to animals for a quick profit:

"I've done quite a lot of work on Brexit and one of the most lucrative goods they're smuggling across the border from Northern Ireland to the Republic and vice versa is pedigree dogs."

"Now these dogs aren't looked after."

"They are completely evading not only taxation but basic health and safety too."

"So it's important that all forms of crime are investigated, that we seize those profits from crime."

"Also it's really important that CAB continues it's work to bring to heel the most vicious criminal gang lords across our country."
