James Corden has paid tribute to Gene Wilder on The Late Late Show. It was announced yesterday that the legendary actor, best known for his starring roles in 'Willy Wonka' and 'Blazing Saddles', had passed away aged 83 due to complications with Alzheimer's Disease.

Corden spoke about the 'magical' star, who he was once lucky enough to meet backstage after a play in New York.

"He was just this magical person, and he made everyone around him feel this incredible feeling of joy," James said.

"It's what I felt when I watched him, it's what I felt when I met him, and that's what I hope he's feeling now, wherever he is."

Corden added: "Thank you so much for everything you gave us. Gene Wilder, you are loved and you are going to be so dearly missed."
