There's a fresh bid to clamp down on so-called welfare tourism.

The Department of Social Protection is changing how people sign on as part of the effort.

Some jobseekers are to put on a 'selective signing' list, meaning they can be called at short notice to sign on, rather than doing it monthly.

It's hoped it will also cut down on those working cash-in-hand jobs or nixers while also claiming the dole.
