Watch: Spain inflict worst defeat on Germany since 1931

Pressure is mounting on Germany head coach Joachim Low since never before.

Die Mannschaft lost their final UEFA Nations League group game 6-0 to Spain in Seville.

It's Germany's biggest defeat since May of 1931 when they lost a friendly to Austria 6-0 in Berlin.

The win secures Spain's place in next year's Nations League playoffs.

Manchester City winger Ferran Torres was the Germans' tormentor-in-chief, netting a hat-trick for Luis Enrique's side.

Alvaro Morata was the first to breach the German resistance, meeting a Fabian Ruiz header with a powerful back-post header to beat Manuel Neuer.

Torres grabbed his first on 33-minutes, volleying home from close range after a Dani Olmo header rebounded off the bar.

Germany were undone via another Ruiz corner just five minutes later when Rodri glanced one past the despairing Neuer.

People began delving into their reference books nine minutes into the second period, when Jose Gaya ran unchallenged through the Germany defence before laying the ball on a plate for Torres to nab a second.

Germany were giving away acres of space to an incisive Spanish attack with Ruiz completing a hat-trick of assists as Torres sealed his own hat-trick to make it 5-0.

The Germans hadn't lost by five-goals since an 8-3 loss to Hungary in the 1954 World Cup. A World Cup they subsequently went on to win.

There was no such hope to be found by the end of the night in Seville. A scooped ball from Rodri fed Gaya who set up Mikel Oyarzabal to make it 6-0.

Elsewhere, France secured the playoff spot from Group 3 of League A. Olivier Giroud scored twice in a 4-2 victory over Sweden.

That defeat condemned Sweden to relegation to League B.

Portugal missed out on the playoffs, despite beating ten-man Croatia 3-2.
