Tottenham boss "not worried" about Kane transfer talk reigniting in January

Tottenham Hotspur manager Nuno Espírito Santo has expressed his delight over Harry Kane's decision to stay with the club.

Kane has been a transfer target for Manchester City since the end of last season with the Premier League champions looking for a goalscorer to fill the boots of Sergio Aguero following his departure to Barcelona.

The Tottenham striker helped fuel speculation over the possible move when he did not turn up with the rest of the squad for pre-season but today he posted a message on Twitter confirming that he will remain with the north-London club for the time being.

"Great news. Fantastic news," said Nuno ahead of their UEFA Europa Conference League match on Thursday. "I think since Harry joined us he has been working so this is what we value. His attitude in training has been excellent.

"It's finished, Harry is going to be with us. He is an option for tomorrow. It is great news for everybody. We are all very happy one of the best players in the world. Delighted to have one more option for the season ahead of us."

Kane wrote in his post that he will be "staying at Tottenham this summer", which would seem to leave the door open to a possible exit from the club in the January transfer window.

This was put to Nuno at his press conference, just a couple of hours after Kane posted his message on Wednesday.

"I am not worried at all," he said. "It’s day by day, he’s an option for tomorrow. It’s the only thing, it is my only thought, try and make the best decisions for tomorrow and Harry is an option for tomorrow.

"I am not going to say what we speak about. It’s between us."

Tottenham have work to do to reach the group stage of the European tournament having lost the first leg of the play-off tie away to Portuguese club Paços de Ferreira 1-0.

Kane is in line to start while centre-backs, Cristian Romero - on loan from Atalanta - and Joe Rodon have had injury problems and will be looked at in the lead up to the game.

Son Heung-min had an issue in the warm-up at Wolves last Sunday and may be rested while Tanguy Ndombele and Serge Aurier are not registered for the match.
