Katie Taylor has been named Ring Magazine's Female Fighter of the Year for the second year in a row.

It's the first-ever time a fighter has retained the award, which was established in 2017.

Taylor, who is the undisputed lightweight champion of the world, defeated Belgium's Delfine Persoon in a rematch in August, before easily overcoming Miriam Gutierrez of Spain in November.

It's been quite a year for Taylor not just in the ring but also with awards in their plenty.

Before Christmas, the 34-year-old retained her status as the Boxing Writers Association of America's Female Fighter of the Year, making her the first woman ever to retain that award.

The Bray native was also named the Irish Times/Sport Ireland Female Sportsperson of the year earlier this month.

It was her fifth time to win the award.

The only other fighters to have won Ring Magazine's top award in successive years are Joe Louis, Ezzard Charles, Ingemar Johansson, Joe Frazier, Muhammad Ali, Evander Holyfield and Manny Pacquiao.

The 2020 Male Fighter of the Year award was shared by Tyson Fury and Teofimo Lopez.
