Two people have been arrested after a gun and ammunition were seized in the city centre last night.
Gardaí on patrol made the seizure after intervening in a row on Abbey Street shortly after midnight.
Investigators said the officers saw a man throwing something into a bin on nearby Liffey Street during the disturbance. When they searched the bin, they found the gun and ammunition.
A man in his 30s and a woman in her 20s were arrested at the scene and taken to Store Street Garda Station.
The gun has been sent to the Ballistics Section for analysis
The Garda investigation is continuing.
