Masters champion Tiger Woods has announced that he'll play at next week's Memorial tournament at Muirfield Village.

The 43-year-old took a break from between winning his 15th major title at Augusta and last week's PGA Championship, where he failed to make the weekend after shooting rounds of 72 and 73.  Woods says illness curtailed his practice ahead of Bethpage Black and as a result his game wasn't sharp going into the second major of the year.

"I've enjoyed being the Masters champion again, the PGA was a quick turnaround and unfortunately I just didn't play well.

"I didn't do all the little things I need to do correctly to post good scores and put myself in position to shoot good scores.

"There's no reason why I can't get up to speed again and crank it back up. I've got to start feeling a little bit better first before that happens. We'll do that first and then start cranking it back up again."

Woods has won the Memorial on five previous occasions and he's using it as preparation for the US Open at Pebble Beach, where he landed he enjoyed a record 15-shot victory in 2000.

"Ohio next week for the @MemorialGolf, then Pebble for the @usopengolf. Looking forward to getting out there again", Woods confirmed on social media.
