A young Celtic fan is about to win the Scottish Professional Football League's goal of the month competition.

10-year old Jay Beatty, who has Down Syndrome, scored a penalty during the half time break in Celtic’s game at Hamilton last month.

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/en_GB/all.js#xfbml=1"; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, 'script', 'facebook-jssdk'));

The Armagh youngster’s goal has been nominated for the goal of the month competition.

And he looks set to win, despite facing competition from his Celtic heroes Mikael Lustig and Gary Macakay-Steven.

The vast majority of voters have chosen his goal so far.

Jay came to the attention of Hoops fans when he was carried around Celtic Park at the end of last season by Celtic striker Georgios Samaras, during the club’s title celebration lap of honour.
