Wilson set for loan exit as he's left out of Liverpool's CL squad

Harry Wilson looks set to spend the rest of the season away from Liverpool having been excluded from their Champions League squad.

The Welsh international made his first Liverpool appearance in nearly 4-years last week, when he started in their Carabao Cup loss to Arsenal at Anfield. His miss in the shootout led to the Reds' exit.

Wilson appeared destined for a move to Burnley prior to transfer deadline day, but the Lancashire club blanched at Liverpool's £20million (€22m) asking price.

Xherdan Shaqiri was another player for whom the Premier League champions were entertaining offers, but unlike Wilson he has made the Champions League squad.

Wilson's previously had spells on loan at Hull City, Derby County and Bournemouth.

The transfer window may have closed for most on Monday, but it remains ajar for deals to be done between Premier League and EFL sides.

That gap remains open until 5pm on Friday October 16, by which time it's expected Wilson will have departed Anfield yet again.

Liverpool's Champions League campaign begins away to Ajax on October 21, with Midtylland visiting Anfield six-days later.

November sees back-to-back games with Atalanta, with Klopp's charges travelling to the refurbished Geswiss Stadium first.

And in December, they'll be at home to Ajax, and conclude away to Midtylland.
