Glenn Whelan could be about to leave Stoke.
Reports say talks between the Dubliner and Stoke have broken down.
He reportedly wants a longer deal than the one on offer from the club.
Whelan is available on a free transfer next summer.
He joined the club from Sheffield Wednesday in 2008.
Whelan has also become a key member of the Republic of Ireland squad in recent years, starting all three of Ireland’s games in the ill-fated Euro 2012 campaign.
