For the first time in his career, Republic of Ireland assistant boss Roy Keane is heading to a major tournament as a coach.

The Cork man played at the USA World Cup in 1994 and was at...er...the 2002 World Cup in Japan/South Korea, but let's not got there!

Keane will be hoping he can help manager Martin O’Neill plot a route into the knockout stages and beyond at Euro 2016.

The former Ireland captain was asked how different it is approaching a major tournament like Euro 2016 as a coach rather than as a playerOne of the coaching staff that Keane referred to is the Ireland goalkeeping coach Seamus McDonagh who deliberately avoids the media glare.

McDonagh won 25 Irish caps between the sticks, has worked with Martin O'Neill for many years and is a favourite with the current keepers Darren Randolph and Keiren Westwood
