"We need to improve" | Declan Rice on England performance

England midfielder Declan Rice knows they'll need to up their game if they are to win this summer's European Championships.

Gareth Southgate's side still have work to do to reach the knockout stages after being held to a 0-0 draw by Scotland.

England are now level on four points with the Czech Republic in Group D, ahead of their meeting on Tuesday. A win will probably be required to avoid World Cup winners France in the last-16.

"There are games at home we should be winning but credit to Scotland, they ran and defended for their lives," former Ireland international Rice said after the game at Wembley.

"We had our chances to put it away, when John Stones' header hit the post it felt it might have been one of them nights. We need to improve and now the Czech Republic game is massive.

"Scotland nailed their gameplan and nullified Harry Kane, he is a world class player and we need to get the ball to him to score. We need to keep working, chances in the second half but we don't need to be too down and negative.

"With the press and social media there might be an overreaction now but we have to stay positive."
