Imagine if Real Madrid and Barcelona were to meet in a Champions League final some day.

That's the equivalent of what's about to happen over two legs in the weeks to come for the first time in history. Starting on Saturday at the iconic Bombonera stadium, Boca Juniors will host Superclasico rivals River Plate in the first leg of South America's premier continental club competition, the Copa Libertadores.

And then on Thursday two weeks, the two sides renew acquaintances on the other side of Buenos Aires when River host Boca at their famous El Monumental Stadium for the second leg of the decider.

Given the rivalry that exists between the two Argentine clubs, one can expect fireworks and a tense encounter on and off the pitch.

BBC South American football expert Tim Vickery joined us on Off The Ball to preview the game and to discuss the enmity that exists between the two derby rivals.

"It's the biggest," said Tim on where this two-legged final ranks in the history of Argentine club games, "And it's almost too big."

"It's absolutely huge and the tickets are changing hands on the black market and are going for the price of a house more or less, and whoever loses is never ever going to hear the end of this. In 50 years' time, they'll still be laughed at and mocked on the streets because they lost the biggest clash in one of the biggest rivalries that there is in world football."
