A trailer for the upcoming Alex Ferguson documentary has been released three years on from the day he needed emergency surgery to save his life.

The former Manchester United boss suffered a brain haemorrhage on May 5th, 2018 and the 79-year-old Scot reveals in the documentary that he feared he would lose his memory during his recovery.

Ferguson spent several days in intensive care at Salford Royal Hospital after the health scare before he returned to Old Trafford in September 2018 when he received a heroes welcome from supporters.

Directed by his son Jason, Never Give In is billed as the 'ultimate account of the life and legend' of Ferguson.

It includes details about growing up in Glasgow to his playing career and illustrious managerial spells at Aberdeen and Manchester United.

During his 27 years at United, Ferguson became the most successful manager in the history of the British game, winning 13 Premier League titles, two Champions Leagues, five FA Cups and four League Cups.

The pinnacle was in 1999 when he famously guided the club to a Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League treble.

The documentary will be released in UK cinemas from May 27th and viewers in Ireland will be able to see it on Amazon Prime Video from May 29th.
