Tottenham have completed the club record signing of Tanguy Ndombelé from Lyon.

It's believed the France international midfielder has cost the Champions League finalists €62m. Ndombelé has signed a contract tying him to Spurs until June of 2025.

The 22-year old has enjoyed a remarkable rise through the professional ranks over the past five-years. After being rejected by Guingamp as a teenager, Ndombele made his way to Amiens for whom he made 33-appearances.

Ndombele moved to Lyon - initially on loan - in the summer of 2017, costing the Ligue 1 side a further €8m when the move was made permanent last summer.

Ironically, Ndombele's French international debut came in Guingamp where he replaced Paul Pogba in the 67th minute of a 2-2 friendly draw with Iceland in October of 2018. He's represented France on a total of 6 occasions.

The €62m paid for Ndombele eclipses the €40m paid by Tottenham to Ajax in August of 2017 for Colombian defender Davinson Sanchez.

Having not signed anyone for 18-months after the capture of Lucas Moura in January of 2018, Daniel Levy has opened the purse strings today. Ndombele is Spurs' second signing of the day following the £10m arrival of 18-year old winger Jack Clarke from Leeds. Clarke has immediately rejoined Leeds for the 2019-20 Championship season.

Ndombele underwent a medical at a north London hospital before completing the formalities of his move at Tottenham's training ground.

Able to break from midfield, Ndombele can both create and finish chances in the final third. His 96 appearances from Lyon saw him register 16 assists, scoring 4-times.

He played in all of Lyon's Champions League games last season, scoring in each of their Group F encounters with Hoffenheim. Ndombele also impressed in Lyon's games with Manchester City in that group.

Ndombele was second only to club teammate Memphis Depay for the most assists in Ligue 1 last season, with all six coming from open play.
