Declan Darcy has questioned the future of the amateur status of the GAA.
The former Dublin star and current selector with the Boys in Blue admits the sacrifices made by players in the modern game are “huge”.
Darcy played with Dublin in the late 1990s and early 2000s, having earlier played for Leitrim in the early 90s.
However he admits that times have changed since his playing days- and there is a danger of players being overworked.
Dublin are busy preparing for the All-Ireland Football Final against Mayo on Sunday, 18th September.
But there is huge increase in focus on training, diet, preparation and recovery compared to playing careers of a decade ago.
