Roberto Soldado scored a sublime hat-trick as Tottenham beat Anzhi 4-1 to make it six wins from six for Andre Villas-Boas' side in the Europa League. Soldado had struggled since his £26million move from Valencia in the summer, scoring just once from open play in the Barclays Premier League, but he tore Anzhi apart as Spurs ran out easy winners at White Hart Lane. Soldado glanced Gylfi Sigurdsson's shot beyond Evgeni Pomazan and he beat the Anzhi goalkeeper again from close range before scoring from the spot for the fourth time this season to seal his hat-trick. Kyle Naughton's mistake allowed Anzhi to get on the scoresheet, but a fine goal from Lewis Holtby ensured Tottenham progressed from Group K with a 100 per cent record.

Swansea reached the knockout stages of the Europa League despite a disappointing 1-0 defeat in the fog and cold of St Gallen. The Welsh club knew a draw would be enough to guarantee their progression from Group A, but Kuban Krasnodar's failure to beat Valencia in Spain ensured this loss did not prove costly. In sub-zero temperatures and with a low fog hindering visibility, the visitors had the better of the opening half with Roland Lamah twice going close. But they slackened off after the break and were punished when Marco Mathys found the net from close range with 10 minutes to go.

Wigan have departed the competition following a 2-1 defeat to Maribor. Uwe Rosler's men led thanks to Jordi Gomez's penalty four minutes before half-time. But Dejan Mezga levelled from the spot two minutes later and Zeljko Filipovic's goal just before the hour mark ended Wigan's hopes of reaching the knockout stages of the competition. There were two reds cards in the match as Wigan midfielder Chris McCann saw red and Ales Mertelj was dismissed for the hosts.
