One of the people taking a keen interest in the final day's action at the Masters was Shane Lowry.

The Offaly golfer was involved at Augusta in 2017 but watched from afar in 2018 as Patrick Reed won his maiden major and Rory McIlroy struggled on the final day despite being in a strong position on Sunday morning.

Lowry joined Joe Molloy and Peter Lawrie on OTB's Golf Weekly this week to talk about his own season as well as the action at the Masters and the buzz around Tiger Woods' return to the fold.

The lukewarm reaction towards Reed, who has been perceived as unpopular was something Lowry found disappointing.

"It's disappointing that the guy has the best day of his whole life and then people start bringing up stuff from the past," he said.

"I don't know the chap very well but I have had some dealings with him and I've never found anything bad about him personally.

"There are guys out there who don't have much to say about him and much good to say about him but I just find it very disappointing that he's after having the best day of his life, winning the best tournament of his career and people always [bring up the past]."

Meanwhile, Lowry also backed McIlroy to come back strongly again in his bid to complete the final leg of his career Grand Slam bid by winning at Augusta in future.

"The thing people have to realise is that there's a reason only five people have ever won the Grand Slam and he hopefully one day will win it," he said.

"He's got a great chance. He's definitely got another 15 years at it easily."
