Robbie Henshaw is facing a four month injury lay-off after undergoing surgery.
The Leinster and Ireland centre tore his pectoral muscle during the British and Irish Lions draw with the Hurricans last week.
“With regard to Robbie Henshaw, that was a pretty significant injury.” Lions doctor Eanna Falvey told the The42.ie
“He’s completely divorced the muscle from the bone.
“That needs to be reattached, so that’s usually about a 16-week recovery. He may do slightly better, but that’s probably what we’re looking at.”
Henshaw will miss the start of next season, with Leinster to open their Guinness Pro 12 campaign followed by Champions Cup clashes in October.
He’ll be in a race to be fit for Ireland’s November internationals too.
