Every one of Ireland's matchday 23 who grabbed victory over France today, has two weeks to get ready for the visit of England - everyone that is except Johnny Sexton.

The Irish outhalf kicked five out of five in Ireland's 18-11 win over the visitors to the Aviva this afternoon and received a nasty gash to his head after not one, but two collisions with French giant Mathieu Bastareaud.

There was one in the eighth minute in which Sexton came out on top, winning a penalty for his team.

The next one didn't go so well and the Racing Metro player had to leave the field in the 45th minute to get several stitches to close a serious looking cut above his eye.

There was another coming together between the two late in the match as Ireland were defending their lead and Sexton's cut had to be tended to again after it reopened.

The former Leinster player is off back to Paris to play in a crucial Top 14 match for 4th placed Racing against 3rd placed Clermont Auvergne as the Six Nations Championship takes a week out.

In the post-match press conference, Irish head coach Joe Schmidt was asked if it was a bit worrying watching his key man heading off to play in that fixture next Saturday
