O'Conghaile Could Be New Ciaran Whelan- Jim Gavin

A number of fringe players have impressed for the Dublin footballers so far in 2015 albeit in the pre-season O'Byrne Cup competition.
 
The likes of John Small (Ballymun Kickhams), Tomás Brady (Na Fianna) and Shane Carthy (Naomh Mearnog) have put in eye-catching performances as the Boys in Blue march on to the semi-finals this weekend.
 
Another man who has given Dublin boss Jim Gavin food for thought is Emmet O'Conghaile.
 
The Lucan Sarsfields' midfielder has been around the senior panel long enough to pick up an All-Ireland medal in 2013 as well as two NFL medals and two Leinster medals while he also won two U21 All-Ireland medals.
 
There are shades of Ciarán Whelan about O'Conghaile who has demonstrates very impressive high fielding skills and is well able to kick scores from long range.
 
Gavin spoke to 98FM Sport's Stephen Doyle about the 21-year-old after yesterday's win against Laois:
