Manchester United's misery has been further compounded today with the news that Marcos Rojo underwent surgery.

The defender suffered a shoulder injury in training earlier this month after United’s 2-1 win at Watford in the Premier League.

Rojo also suffered a dislocated during a 1-0 defeat by Manchester City last season. The club decided he should have surgery on this occasion as preventative measure.

After damaging his shoulder against Man City he didn’t go under the knife and spent 4 weeks out of action.

Matteo Darmian will be sidelined with a hamstring problem for a number of weeks. Chris Smalling was also forced off injured in the 3-2 Champions League defeat to Wolfsburg. He has a groin strain.

The club’s ever expanding injury list now includes Matteo Darmian, Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo, Luke Shaw, Antonio Valencia, Ander Herrera, Morgan Schneiderlin and Wayne Rooney.
