Manchester United's hopes of winning a Premier League top four spot have been dealt a massive blow after Louis van Gaal confirmed that Wayne Rooney is out injured.
The United skipper picked up a knee injury in the Premier League defeat to Sunderland and The Times reported today he would be sidelined for up to two months.
Van Gaal refused to give any timeframe for the striker's return at a press conference this evening.
Rooney was left behind for the trip to Denmark where the Red Devils take on Midtjylland in the Europa League round of 32 tomorrow.
He had just rediscovered his form with 5 goals and 3 assists in his last 7 games.
