Kilkenny 1-22 | 1-18 Galway

Kilkenny are the 2015 All Ireland hurling champions. They had four points to spare as they overcame Galway to retain the title they last lifted 12 months ago.

The cats looked to be on course for the victory early on when TJ Reid hit the back of the net inside the opening 15 mins.

Galway took control of the game from then on and looked to be finding space to exploit in the opening 35 mins. Joe Canning was instrumental in their success, scoring 0-7 as they went into the break with a 0-14 to 1-8 lead.

The cats knew they would have to make significant improvements in the second half as they went 18 mins between scores at one stage, their fight back after the break was eased by Galway’s complete capitulation.

The Tribesmen collapsed scoring just 1-4 after the break and the goal from Joe Canning simply put a gloss on the scoreline.

It came too late to change the result as Brian Cody guided Kilkenny to an 11th All-Ireland title in 16 years.
