So far in the 2018 World Cup, the major contenders have all showed signs of vulnerability whether it's a bluntness in attack or defensive frailties.

Brazil struggled to break down Costa Rica before scoring two late goals to win 2-0 in their Group E encounter but not without controversy.

Thanks to the Video Assistant Referee, a penalty that had been awarded to Neymar for a very soft challenge was over-ruled.

Kevin Kilbane is in Kaliningrad for tonight's game between Switzerland and Serbia and he joined Ger to look ahead to this weekend's action as well as the Neymar VAR incident.

"Today they weren't great and Costa Rica looked like a real threat at times," he said of Brazil.

"But that penalty that was overturned, when you first see it, you think penalty. But as soon as you see the second angle, get it overturned.

"And fair play to [the referee], that's how you want VAR to work. It wasn't a penalty. It clearly wasn't a penalty. When you see Neymar doing that, it kind of just pisses you off a bit."

Looking ahead to the weekend, Kevin has concerns about Germany, who lost their opener 1-0 to Mexico last Saturday and face a tough Sweden.

"I don't see Germany being the force that they were maybe in the last three or four tournaments," he said, pointing out a sense of complacency and the lack of pace in front of the attacking midfielders as one factor going forward and saying of Sweden, "I was impressed with Sweden [against South Korea] and I thought they moved the ball well."
