Kevin Doyle has given a classy response to being left out of the Republic of Ireland’s 23-man Euro 2016 squad.
Martin O’Neill unveiled his finals squad last night, with forwards Robbie Keane, Shane Long, Daryl Murphy and Jon Walters all included.
Doyle had been informed earlier in the week that he would miss out on the final 23-man squad, but is on standby instead.
He never travelled to train with the squad, instead staying with his club Colorado Rapids in a bid to improve match fitness.
He had only recently returned to action after picking up a nasty injury while playing for Ireland in March.
Doyle admitted he was disappointed not to be playing in last night’s friendly clash with Belarus:

But he had this classy message for the Boys in Green, after the squad was announced last night:
